Porttia Yamahan Preaches Reality in Black Friday
Tj on 01/22/2008 at 4:00pm (UTC)
 Idea
This is a movie that aims to market our cultural
heritage. It emanated from a true life story and what
is happening in our midst currently. The concept of
the play teaches and promotes the quality of Nigerian
culture. It lectures on morals. It tells people most
especially youths of present days what our culture is
about. “We want to unfold the reality of life. In
spite great experiences the old ones have as far as
life is concerned, no one can predict what would
happen tomorrow. The film condemns people who don’t
believe in reality”, Phil Eriabie, the producer said.
Story
Black Friday is a thriller full of suspense and
intrigues, set as a contemporary movie in present day
Nigeria. It is a story of a young man, Damian, who in
his bid to succeed in life goes to an address to
search for work and finds out that the address is
wrong afterall the search all day; Then the mistaken
identity intrigue comes to play, while contemplating
on what to do next, he is attacked by the Community
Vigilante as a result of incessant robbery and serial
killing attacks in the area. Anyone that wanders
around is taken for a suspect, but he eventually flees
and escapes to a compound, which is occupied by a
lady, Andre, whose parents and siblings are not in
town. Survival instincts take over his senses and he
takes the young lady, Andre, hostage in her home. The
kidnapped process went on till Clara, Andre’s friend
came to visit her. They are both hold hostage. Clara
later escaped!
The Police are on 24 hours surveillance in the state
due to the rampant robbery and serial killings while
TV Stations are creating awareness on prevention and
handling such cases by the citizens. The twist comes
to play in the movie when the suspect, Damian narrates
his story to the lady, Andre and she became
sympathetic.
Therefore, you need to know what really happen to
Damian at last. Doesn’t he really get a way with the
atrocities he commits? What happen to Andre? Does
Clara escape truly? What role does Prof. Jayke really
play? These are endless questions you would keep
asking until you watch the movie.
