KEL READY FOR FIRST ALBUM, PREMIERS NEW VIDEO

After three videos from a yet-to-be-released album, two nominations from Nigeria’s most credible awards Hiphopworld awards, and general acceptance from the industry, it is certain that the 23 year old undergraduate of Lagos State University is ready for a debut ‘I’m so glad the album is ready, Capital hills music and M.et.al share my vision, and they agree with the kind of music I want to make, the kind of artiste I want to be seen as, and with our combined effort we have made it work’ she says.Born Kelechi Ohia into a family of four children, Kel started her journey into being a Rapper in 1998 and from then, the passion has been a part of her till now ‘Rap is my passion, my first love to be precise. We started way back in 1998 when I used to listen to Eminem, but I started doing my thing in 2000. The debut 19 tracker- The investment is due for release on Monday June 22, 2009. Expected to be marketed and distributed by Happy boys, the album will feature songs like Turn by turn, Waa wa Alright, Nobody else, beautiful life and Too fine. Others include Sitting on top, Push, Die hustling and Love featuring MI. Kel explains ‘The song- Love is a fiction, it was not directed at anyone in particular, it just talks about heart break and the feeling of Love in general, I was anti love in the song, but at the end, I agreed with MI that no matter how stinky love gets, the feeling cant be compared to none’. When probed further about the news flying around that the song Love was directed to someone, she says ‘I’m not seeing anyone at the moment; ‘The investment’ is the only boyfriend I have, and no one has broken my heart. So I don’t think it would be nice for me to dedicate a song to someone, or direct a song to someone that is not there. She explains further ‘It was just a concept I and MI came up with. We just thought that instead of us doing the regular boy chase girl or girl chase boy, let’s spice it up a bit, so we decided to do the anti love and pro love thing’. Meanwhile, The video for ‘Too fine’- One of the songs off the album which features Alaye and MayD was released this week. The last in the chains of videos to be released before the album drops; ‘Too fine’ was directed by Clarence Peters in Lagos , Nigeria . The video revolves around the success story of the rapper; it is themed around Kel being a major headliner in the Nigerian music industry, in the video Kel is seen on the cover of various magazines with different celebrities and key media and industry players in unique, fabulous, daring and controversial poses.‘Too fine’ is a single written by Kel herself. The rap track is listed on her major-label debut album ‘The Investment’ which will hit the market in a matter of weeks. | | | |

STAGE DROPS NEW VIDEO
TJ on 06/27/2009 at 3:30pm (UTC) | | | Hip Hop sensation and co CEO of Dramateam Records, Stage has shot the video for LOJO, one of his hits singles from his highly anticipated debut album titled STAGEMATIC which is receiving heavy rotation from various T V station across the nation. Information has it that the classic rapper released the video penultimate week. Since its release it has been generating lots of arguments among his fans that the musical video should win many awards this year. “This has been my promise. I want to surprise my fans. I have also promise me that the video would definitely be a watch out for when the promotion starts. So there shouldn’t be any surprise if the video is the talk of the town at the moment,” the Portharcourt based Stage said while addressing the press in Lagos. The single's audio and video is also rocking various Alaba mixes at Alaba international market because of the commercial nature of the song. Call it a masterpiece, this is not an understatement. Danfo Driver appoints Events Aloud to handle media

Nigerians know as Danfo Driver has been out of scene
for a while. Though, it is not news anymore that the
talented singers dropped a new single titled Meshango.
But the latest about them is the appointment of Events
Aloud to be the artistes’ image maker. The company
which has been in existence since 2006 won the pitch
after lots of company came for the presentation but
the owner the recording company that signed on Danfor
Driver finally settled for Events Aloud as a result of
previous jobs the company has handled. Tunde Mogaji
the C E O of the company gives kudos to D&I
Entertainment for the believe in them.
At the event which was held recently, the duo added
that they believe Events Aloud will deliver due to
the pressure on them to drop their coming album.
“We have just signed a recording deal with D & I
Entertainment. The record is saddled with the
responsibility of releasing our forthcoming album.
Apart from the single, the new video is also rocking
the airwaves courtesy of David and Isaiah the brain
behind D & I Entertainment”, they said.
Fans would recall quickly that Polongo one of their
major hits three years ago, was used as sound track on
Holloywood flick , PHAT GIRLZ according to findings.

Ronke Oshodi Oke picks weeding date

has picked wedding, if the information reaching us is
anything to go by.
Sources said the American returnee movie star had
picked up the date when she was in the state late last
year to premier her new coming movie. First week in
December, invitation cards have been distributed to
colleagues, friends and well wishers in the industry
for the wedding coming up on 24th January,2009 in
Lagos.
Guess what, African attire has been selected to add
colour to the wedding as we gathered.

KOOL & THE GANG’S JT TAYLOR THRILLs NIGERIANS

of good times when JT Taylor of the Kool and the Gang
fame - one of the world’s greatest rhythm and blues
party bands, thrilled Nigerians at the MTN One World
launch in a frenzied two legged high flight
performance at the International Conference Centre, in
the nation’s capital and Ocean View, Victoria Island
respectively.
The former Kool & the Gang lead singer whose
versatility held their reign as one of the finest funk
outfits of the 1970s and 80’s, did not disappoint his
ever faithful teeming fans across the country. His
band obviously had expanded their sound with
crowd-friendly pop and disco influences. The result is
a combination of slick rendition, R&B vocals, and
infectious dance grooves, run on the pop and R & B
charts with hits like “Ladies Night,” “Too Hot” “Get
Down on It” and “Joanna.” and “Celebration,” the song
that ultimately became his old group’s signature and
then became a world-wide anthem for fun and good
times.
In the words of Kola Oyeyemi, MTN GM Consumer
Marketing, “Watching JT’s performance was amazing,
non-stop beautiful music from the 70, 80's & 90's you
just could not stop singing and dancing your heart
away. This is what we intended by bringing to Nigeria

among all "Ladies Night" is no exception. Almost
thirty years later, JT still make it sound like
yesterday. The band has been more than great; the
audience is ecstatic and fulfilled, as you can hear

X-Project features M I in New LP

the recently concluded Afro-Hollywood Hall of Fame in
the United States of America, the Lori le exponent
stormed Nigeria in a new dimension as they drop new
single.
X-Project publicist revealed that the new single
features the hottest rapper at the moment, MI. Any
moment from now, the song will hit radio air wave.
According to him, the song instrumental was produced
by one of X-Project in Maryland while in the United
States of America during their musical tour.
Therefore it would be recalled that Apart from the
award X-Project won in the States, they were on tour
for more than a month. They toured New Jersey, New
York, Atlanta, Virginia, Maryland and Florida.
Thousands of Nigerians and Sierra Leoneans massively
graced and cheered the Sierra-Naija music stars. The
crowd especially surprised X-Project with triumphant
and loving shouts of joy in New Jersey and New York”,
he said.
X-Project further revealed that this is the beginning
as they are very ready to continue dazzling their fans
with great hits from their new coming album.
